Alan is a Co-Founder and a Managing Director of Castletop Capital since the firm was founded in 2000. Alan’s responsibilities at Castletop include managing a share of the firm’s portfolio of investments and all of the firm’s financial and business operations. Alan is a Managing Member of Milestone Community Builders (www.mymilestone.com) and serves on the board of directors of SecureLogix, Inc.
Prior to Castletop Capital, Alan worked at Dell Inc., where he was involved in the growth of Dell’s Small Business Division that, during his tenure, grew from $800 million to over $5 billion. While at Dell, Alan held the positions of Assistant Controller, Senior Marketing Manager for Strategic Planning and Business Development, and Director of the Small and Medium Business Relationship Sales Division. Prior to joining Dell, Alan worked in South Florida as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Operations for an engineering and software development company as well working as a Commercial Loan Officer for Bank of America. Alan received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Miami in 1988.
Alan’s philanthropic endeavors include serving as a Trustee, Vice President and Treasurer of the Topfer Family Foundation since 2000. From 2004 until 2018, Alan was a Trustee, former Treasurer and former Board Chairman of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas. In 2018, Alan became a Life Trustee of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas.
Richard Topfer

Richard is a Co-Founder and a Managing Director of Castletop Capital since the company was founded in 2000. Richard’s responsibilities at Castletop include managing a number of the firm’s investments and the firm’s infrastructure. Richard is a Managing Member of Milestone Community Builders (www.mymilestone.com)
Prior to joining Castletop, Richard worked at a storage area network (SAN) start-up, StorageApps, Inc., where, as Director of the technical sales organization, he helped the company achieve revenues of $50 million in its first year. Prior to joining StorageApps, Richard held various sales and marketing management positions at Dell Inc. His last position at Dell was Senior Manager of Server and Storage Sales for the company’s Large Corporate Accounts organization. Before joining Dell, he worked in Business Development in the two-way radio and paging divisions of Motorola.
Richard’s philanthropic endeavors include serving as a Trustee and Vice President of the Topfer Family Foundation since 2000. Richard is also a founding board member for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) which provides access to medical services for Austin’s musicians.
Richard received his BA in Economics from Florida State University.
Mort Topfer

Mort is a Co-Founder and a Managing Director of Castletop Capital since the company was founded in 2000. Before Castletop, Mort worked at Dell Inc. where he served as Vice Chairman from 1994 to 2002. During Mort’s tenure at Dell the market capitalization of the company went from $800 Million to $110 Billion. Prior to his tenure at Dell, Mort spent 23 years with Motorola, where he held multiple senior executive positions spanning the full range of Motorola’s global business. Prior to Motorola, Mort spent 11 years at RCA Laboratories in various research and development and management positions, during which time he wrote a book on thick-film electronics. Mort has served as a board member of many public and private companies.
In 1996, Mort was conferred the Darjah Johan Negeri Penang State Award by the Governor of Penang for his contributions to the development of the electronics industry in Malaysia.
Mort has served as the Chairman of the Topfer Family Foundation since he founded the non-profit organization in 2000. Mort has been recognized as the Austinite of the Year and the Outstanding Austin Philanthropist of the Year
